Only 4 km from Barbizon and 12 km from Fontainebleau, on the edge of the magnificent Forest of Fontainebleau, a small, rustic and independent chalet in the vicinity of the owners’ house offers parking space, a terrace, garden furniture, a barbecue and view over the park (5 acres). Surrounded by the beauty and calm of nature you will wake up to the sounds of birdsong. As the forest is only 500 metres away you may take marvellous walks or go cycling, either with a picnic or pushing on to Barbizon – home to the famous painter Millet and the Ecole de Barbizon - where you may linger in the picture galleries or visit the Ganne museum before having a bite at one of the numerous restaurants offering simple or gastronomic menus. The choice is yours…
Nearby
you have cosmopolitan, ‘imperial’ Fontainebleau,
with its flower-bedecked shopping streets; not-to-be-missed markets on Tuesday
and Sunday mornings and, of course, its magnificent chateau and gardens where
Napoleon took leave of his Grande Armee. Within reach
are other historic places such as Milly la Foret, Courances, Moret sur Loing,
Blandy les Tours, and the splendid Chateau de Vaux le Vicomte
with its extensive formal gardens.
